A club sponsored field trip will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 to the Yuha Basin Oyster Beds locality. This locality is accessed from the Dunaway Road exit from Interstate 8 in Imperial County between Ocotillo and El Centro. A variety of fossil shells can be collected along with selenite, chalcedony and jasper. More information on this site can be found in the second revised edition (copyright 2016) of Gem Trails of Southern California as site 4 on pages 22 and 23.
The meetup for this trip will occur proximate to the Dunaway Road exit. Registrants will receive an email during the week of 11/6 with the exact location and time for the meetup.
This field trip is open to FGMS members who have paid their dues for 2023. A liability waiver document must be signed by all attendees prior to the field trip.
