Pursuant to the County and CDC health recommendations, unvaccinated persons should wear a mask indoors;  all others are encouraged to wear masks indoors. Exceptions for certain individuals unable to wear a mask will be made as before.

FGMS was founded in 1957. We are a group of individuals who share common interests in gems, minerals, jewelry, geology, paleontology and the related earth sciences and lapidary arts. The Society is based in Fallbrook, San Diego County, California -- just a "stone's throw" from some of the most productive gem mining areas in the United States.

You won't believe what we've been hiding in Fallbrook!

FGMS BOOTH at SAN DIEGO FAIR

Dear FGMS supporters,

First of all, my greatest thanks for volunteering for this year's Fair. Your help has made our endeavor not only a monetary success, but a PR triumph. Fair visitors LOVE us! Our little rockhounds and future FGMS members are visiting in droves. Bravo!

You have also helped us fill almost the entire volunteer schedule, but there are some days/evenings that need filling. In desperation I ask you to consider one last slot at the Fair:

  • This Sunday - 6/19, 3:30 to 10 pm:  Meg Berry could really use another person. She also is doing 6/26 and 7/3 (Sundays) with a skeleton crew.  Help!
  • Tuesday evenings 6/23 and 6/30 3:30 to 10 pm:  Lea Barton has only one volunteer for these days. Yikes!
  • I am filling in on day shifts 6/19, 6/22, 6/29,7/2, 7/3 and 7/4. If it comes to it, I'll do evenings too, but I get brain dead after 5pm.  If they had a 3 a.m. shift I'd be perfect!  Therefore, if you can help with these crucial evening shifts, I and the team leaders would be so grateful. Give me a call, email or text (760-681-9820).

Lastly every time I go, I marvel at the wonderful job our BJ Cheathem did with our back wall acknowledging our heroes.  Incredible, BJ!  You outdid yourself this year. It's glorious. Thank you.

With warmest regards,

Meline
